After several celebrities and brands are pulling their support from fashion house Gucci amidst blackface controversy, Katy Perry's fashion line is also removing items from her shoe collection many would also deem questionable.
According to TMZ, the pop star, whose shoe collection is available for purchase at Dillard's and Walmart, is making the decision to pull her "face shoes" from shelves. They are pretty self-explanatory: the shoe, which comes in both black and white, features a face on the front. As you can gather, the black one resembles blackface pretty closely.
"Sources connected to Katy tell us these specific shoes are just part of an entire line of shoes she's designed and released ... and they were never intended to be offensive," TMZ reports. "However, we're told, "In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes."
